ALEXANDRE PICOTTE
LIGHTING DESIGNER / DIRECTOR

Alexandre Picotte began his formal training in theatre production at the Saint-Hyacinthe College Theatre School in 1992 where he learned to enrich and refine his art. Alexandre was awarded the ETCP (Entertainment Technician Certification Program) Certified Entertainment Electricians certificate in 2006. Although he has studied many areas of theatre production, lighting is his passion and it is where he focuses all his talent and creativity. For Alexandre, the relationship between the stage and the lighting is at the heart of every theatrical production.

Alexandre’s experience in avant-garde productions led to an invitation in 1994 to be part of Guy Laliberté’s Cirque du Soleil, the largest institution of circus arts in the world. He spends much of his time traveling the world as the Lighting Designer for various Cirque du Soleil special events and productions as well as Associate Lighting Designer/Director for shows such as ZED, Alegria, Quidam, and Dralion.

Alexandre incorporates new ideas and concepts into each of his designs and works closely with many different creative teams. His passion for lighting and his versatility has resulted in his world class lighting designs being seen on stages all over the globe in a range of productions from Les Grands Ballets Canadiens and la Cité de l'énergie Shawinigan to the National Circus School.
