LIGHTING DESIGN

From the early days of the theatre, lighting designers have been called upon to illustrate the concept of time – time of day, time of the year, the passage of time, and so on. For OUTERBRIDGE – Clockwork Mysteries, lighting designer Brad Trenaman set out to do something different by enhancing and distorting the perception of time. By varying the colour and direction of the light, and the speed at which these changes occur, his goal was to distract the audience from “real time” and the outside world. Although the theme of the show is time, the last thing the audience will do during the performance is to even glance at their watch.
